Black Ops 7 Zombie is losing players

cod bot lobbies‘s release was met with a great deal of criticism by players. Zombies mode offered a high level of quality despite the fact that its single player campaign was very poor.

Zombies has been losing popularity according to player feedback. This isn’t meant to criticize Black Ops 7 mode performance, but rather analyze some of problems that have emerged and potential areas for improvements.

Development Team

The problems began in 2021 after the Zombies development teams was put into a leadership post overseeing Call of Duty. The Zombies team had to take on not only their own project but also the responsibilities of other studios. They even handled Warzone content.

mmoset Zombies has become increasingly similar to other game modes, such as Warzone, since the game engine was unified. Official apology issued recently, confirming the avoidance of resembling Modern Warfare/Black Ops in the near future.

Narrative Regression

Although the narrative in Zombies is better than Cold War, Black Ops 6 and even the environment storytelling within the maps, the pace remains an issue.

Black Ops 6 is experiencing the same problem. BO7’s opening cutscenes are very captivating, but they only provide substantial plot progression at the end of season. The narrative issue has not been solved by the opening animations promised for each turn based map.

Astra-Malorum’s map opening, for example, is visually stunning. But the characters have no dialogue. That was one of Zombies past modes’ charms. Character interactions from cutscenes to in-map conversations and Easter eggs all contribute to a cohesive narrative.

CoD Black Ops 6&7’s narratives feel slow-paced with insufficient information. Cold War featured few cutscenes. But its top-tier Intel built a solid foundation that was later used in the Dark Aether plot.

Astra Malorum

Astra Malorum DLC has been a major disappointment for players.

This is a really good map. It has a challenging Easter Egg, a hard boss fight, as well as a visually stunning presentation. Astra is the most hyped map since Black Ops 4 but the hype around Astra has dropped significantly.

It is important to note that the Black Ops Series has released multiple titles within the series, which also adds to the fatigue.

Ray Gun, a rare Easter Egg in Astramalorum, was discovered by players only recently. It was not until recently that players discovered this Easter egg.

Insufficient Rewards

To ensure that a game as new as Black Ops 7 is still engaging, the content at the endgame must be interesting. This includes new items, secret content, and progress. It does not mean that new modes are required. The endgame has to be rewarding enough for those players who are dedicated to the zombie genre and also for others who wish to try to improve.

The Zombies Mode reward system is the current biggest problem. Cursed is almost completely untouched by the Relics hunt, since players have the option to directly activate Tier 3 Curses from the Ashes of the Damned.

What incentive does it offer players, apart from the ability to modify their difficulty, to take on 40 or 60 challenges to acquire more Relics. You can get Golden Armor, Tier 4 pack-a-punch, ultra-rare guns, or Tier 4 packs-a-punch through other methods.

There’s an easy solution in the game, but it hasn’t been used. If you collect enough relics, complete the Easter egg and finish it while active on a map then you can unlock a Universal Pack a Punch.

This system exists already, but allows only switching skins while playing matches. It is a major waste.

If this reward were an actual camouflage it would not only motivate hardcore gamers to challenge themselves, but also attract Warzone and multiplayer players to Zombie modes and challenge Easter eggs for the cool camouflage in Cursed.

Cursed mode as a concept is good. It effectively extends maps’ playability. The rewards for difficult challenges currently aren’t enough. This lack of motivation leads to hardcore players not wanting to challenge themselves. Casual users give up on the difficult challenges.

How Do You Solve This Problem?

Prior to solving this problem, you must first address the issue with rewards. It is only with a generous reward program that players will be attracted.

Currently, the method for unlocking Relics is the same as finding a new menu. Players need to figure it out themselves. If the unlock conditions were explicitly stated when Relics was equipped by players, this would encourage them to strive for more difficult content.

Additionally, every map should contain an Easter egg which can be unlocked via a Relic combination that was obtained on the map. If rewards are limited to fixed items like Golden Armor and only available for a certain period of time, the player’s interest will drop.

In order to increase interest, you could add dialogues to the cutscenes or boost rewards.

CoD BO7 Zombies is not in need of major changes. Call of Duty’s future titles can focus on completely re-designing the gameplay. The goal for the next year is to address these issues and reignite interest in the community.
